Blue Sunday: A Day of Prayer for Abused Children

Every year, on Blue Sunday, we pause to lift our hearts in prayer for one of the most vulnerable groups among us — children who have suffered abuse. It’s a time when communities across the nation come together in compassion, prayer, and action, asking for healing for the victims and strength for those who rescue and care for them.

April is also National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a reminder that raising awareness, educating ourselves, and standing up for children must be a continuous effort. As we pray, we also commit ourselves to being a voice for those who cannot yet speak for themselves — advocating for protection, offering support, and nurturing environments where every child can thrive.

The prayer for Blue Sunday beautifully captures this heart:
"Lord, thank you for our children. For them we kneel and pray. Help us teach them of your kindness, your mercy, and your way. Help us show them your love, your strength, and safety, too. Help us show them who you are. Help us treat them like you do."

Let us stand united — praying, learning, and volunteering — until black and blue are no longer marks of pain, but simply colors in a child's crayon box.
Through prayer and action, we can be a beacon of hope, healing, and love for every child.
